Ten minutes tonight
Qalqalah is the small bounce on ق ط ب ج د when they carry a sukoon or you stop on them. You can hear it in your own voice, so start there. Al-Ikhlas has 5 in four short ayat.
If you couldn’t tell, that’s normal. It’s hard to hear your own voice while you’re using it. Keep the note for page 11. Tomorrow, pick another rule page and do the same.
How this book works
Each rule gets a block of cards, one card for every place it falls in al-Fatihah and the last ten surahs. That’s 189 places. Read down a block out loud. Nothing is printed on the Qur’anic text. Iqlab doesn’t fall in these surahs, so its cards come from elsewhere in the last juz.

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ3
تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ4
فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍۭ5

إِۦلَـٰفِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيْفِ2

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٍ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنْ خَوْفٍۭ4
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ1
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يَدُعُّ ٱلْيَتِيمَ2
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ3
فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ4
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ5
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَآءُونَ6
وَيَمْنَعُونَ ٱلْمَاعُونَ7
إِنَّآ أَعْطَيْنَـٰكَ ٱلْكَوْثَرَ1
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنْحَرْ2
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلْأَبْتَرُ3

لَآ أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ2

وَلَآ أَنَا۠ عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدتُّمْ4
وَلَآ أَنتُمْ عَـٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعْبُدُ5
لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِىَ دِينِ6
إِذَا جَآءَ نَصْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْفَتْحُ1
وَرَأَيْتَ ٱلنَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِى دِينِ ٱللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا2
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ تَوَّابًۢا3
تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ1
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ2
سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ3
وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ4
فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ5

ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ2
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ3

مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ2

وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّـٰثَـٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ4
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ5

مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ2
إِلَـٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ3

ٱلَّذِى يُوَسْوِسُ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ5

Before you close the book
What a card can’t do
A card shows you where a rule falls. It can’t hear you read it. If your ikhfa comes out as a plain noon, or your qalqalah goes flat, the page looks exactly the same.
So if you couldn’t tell whether it bounced, you didn’t fail. Nobody was listening to you read. You can find every rule now. Hearing whether you kept it needs someone listening.

Where the text comes from. The Arabic is the Uthmani text of Hafs an Asim, by way of the Shatibiyyah, as the Madani mushaf prints it. It comes from api.quran.com (the Tanzil text) and is never typed out, because small printed marks like the little meem of iqlab are easy to get wrong by hand. That meem sits on the last word of five surahs here, as in خَوْفٍۭ. It only sounds if you carry on into the next surah’s bismillah, so it isn’t counted.
Left out on purpose. The natural madd of two counts falls on almost every line, and the script already shows you the sun and moon lam, so a page of either would be a page of the whole Qur’an. Everything else assumes you stop at the end of each ayah, the way most people read these surahs in salah. Where Hafs allows two lengths, both are given: pick one and keep it for the whole recitation.
