Cookie Policy

Effective date: 11 May 2026 Last updated: 28 July 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how My Tijarah Ltd ("My Tijarah", "we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on mytijarah.co.uk (the "Service").

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise you across pages and visits, and to remember your settings.

We also use similar technologies (such as localStorage and sessionStorage) for the same purposes. In this Policy, "cookies" covers all of these.

2. How we use cookies

We use cookies to:

  • keep you logged in across pages;
  • remember your preferences (such as language and time zone);
  • secure the Service against fraud and abuse;
  • understand how the Service is used so we can improve it;
  • process payments securely.

3. Cookie categories

3.1 Strictly necessary

These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions made by you, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling out forms. This category also includes cookies that remember your preferences (such as your chosen language, currency, and time zone) so the Service behaves the way you expect. Because they are essential to providing the Service, we do not ask for your consent to set them.

3.2 Performance & analytics

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. We use Google Analytics for this. They are loaded only after you give consent through our cookie banner.

3.3 Marketing

These cookies are set through our site by Meta (Facebook). They may be used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites and apps. They are loaded only after you give consent through our cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer.

3.4 Advert click identifiers

When you arrive from one of our adverts, the link carries a click identifier (fbclid from Meta, gclid from Google) that tells us which advert brought you here. That identifier appears only on the very first page you land on and is gone the moment you move to another page, which for most people is before they have answered the cookie banner.

Rather than lose it, we hold it on your device for up to 30 minutes in a cookie named mt_click while you decide. That cookie is set by us, is marked HttpOnly so no script can read it (ours or anyone else's), is never sent to Meta, Google, or any other company, and is deleted straight away if you decline marketing cookies. If you accept marketing cookies while it is still there, we move the identifier into mt_attr and use it to measure which adverts lead to bookings. If you do nothing, it expires on its own and is never used.

3.5 First-party analytics (no cookies)

Separately from the tools above, we run our own first-party analytics to understand how visitors move through the site (for example, how many people who view a teacher go on to book a lesson). This measurement stores nothing on your device: no cookies, no localStorage, no sessionStorage. Because it does not store or read anything on your device, it is not a "cookie" under this Policy, and it runs without the consent banner, on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the Service.

It records anonymous events (such as pages viewed and buttons clicked) and an approximate location (your country and city), worked out at our hosting provider's edge from your network connection. We do not store your IP address, we do not build advertising or cross-site profiles, and we do not share this data with anyone else. Visitors are counted using a short-lived pseudonymous identifier that is renewed each day, which we do not use to identify you.

5. Third-party cookies

When you use the Service, the following third parties may set cookies in your browser:

  • Stripe: sets cookies during checkout for fraud detection and 3-D Secure flows.
  • Supabase: sets authentication cookies when you sign in.
  • Google Analytics: sets analytics cookies, only after you consent to the Performance & analytics category.
  • Meta (Facebook): sets advertising cookies, only after you consent to the Marketing category.

Each third party has its own privacy and cookie policy. You can review them at:

6. Managing cookies

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the website footer. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. See your browser's help pages for instructions.

Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent parts of the Service (such as login and checkout) from working.

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
