Today I had two back to back 50 minute sessions, after an initial 25 minute lesson just two days ago. I have thoroughly enjoyed every lesson, and in such a short space of time I have already learned far more than I expected. What has stayed with me most, however, is not simply what I am learning, but how I am being taught. My tutor is deeply patient and patience creates safety. It creates a space where I do not have to rush towards understanding or perform competence before I possess it. I do not have to prove myself worthy of being taught. I do not have to arrive already knowing. I can simply be a student, there is something profoundly relieving about that. From the very first lesson, something felt different. Within twenty fives minutes, I found myself absorbing more than I thought possible, not because I was under pressure, but because I felt at ease. Today's sessions only deepened that first impression. Learning feels spacious rather than hurried. Questions feel welcome rather than inconvenient. Mistakes are met with patience instead of frustration, and that has made all the difference. Knowledge settles differently when it is received in an atmosphere of safety. It reaches beyond the mind and begins to soften something deeper. I am genuinely grateful that Allah guided me to this tutor, and I look forward to continuing this journey, one lesson at a time. May Allah place barakah in my studies, increase me in beneficial knowledge, and abundantly reward my tutor for the patience, generosity and sincerity they show in teaching.
